Your vote is powerful. This past week in Camas is further proof that your vote either elects people that laugh at the plight of the homeless during a pandemic, spend millions of city funds on non-essential projects while the economy is in freefall and unanimously votes on every issue that comes before them without debate OR it responds to the actual reality of the moment in your city dynamically and always works on behalf of you, the people, especially during the difficult times. What you see in this video isn't an anomaly. It's the type of leadership that Camas deserves. Ask yourself if any of your current city council would risk their own personal standing in a moment like this on your behalf? This Camas city council that approved an $8m roundabout this week and declared gymnastics day in Camas while two of our neighbors in Clark County literally died the same night miles down the road from complications related to COVID-19. Ask yourself if any of them would stand up on your behalf while facing a wall of opposition when it mattered? Camas deserves dedicated leaders like this councillor, a gentleman from Florida named Omari Hardy, who stood up when it mattered yesterday for the people he represents having their city-owned power shut off during a crisis. Camas deserves leaders like this man and can have them. Camas deserves better.

Is there a newslink to this story?
Yes, here you go.

Wow
Reading more, the city (uniquely) owns their power plant and they have the highest rates in the state apparently.
@WATCH Camas Staff I am unable to view the Burton/Anderson council meeting video where they're joking about homeless people and COVID on NextDoor. Is there a copy of that video here?
Please try this YouTube link: Starting at the 4:37 mark: https://youtu.be/Jnr_AZXQZKs?t=266
@WATCH Camas Thanks.
I'm still thinking about that extremely inappropriate comment made about homeless people and the Dr. Seuss reference. It just goes to show that some of the city council members really don't care about the issues that won't get them votes or revenue.
Wow. Whoever this guy is....can I write him in for President?
Wow is the word. Wow at his strength and wow at the (to that point it seems) unchecked arrogance of the rest of them to exploit weak and scared people when they need leaders most. At the very least he replaces her as mayor in the upcoming election running campaign ads that consist solely of this unedited video.
Notice the first "go to" the "leader" employs. "You're done," she says. And in case the rest of the room didn't hear it, she comes back to the dais to repeat it once again. "You're done!"
This is the sheer contempt she has for those who dare challenge her authority. She doesn't even consider what he's saying, who's behalf he's saying it on, and what the rest of the electorate feels about what he said. Instead, she doubles down and focuses on a single takeaway- "You're done!" Because the only thing she really cares about is silencing anybody who doesn't carry her filthy water.
Your insight reminds me of Greg Anderson's recent interview in the Lacamas magazine blog. Between attempts to throw our elected mayor under the bus, if I recall he is asked what they (council) will do as a reaction to COVID-19 and he says, "WE all have different opinions" (again, referring to council).
He doesn't even try to say, "the people of Camas feel..." or "we think our neighbors would want to..." he talks exclusively about the opinion of council. People will scream the truth at you if you only try to listen.
Camas deserves better.
So the bid was awarded for the RAB, according to Lacamas magazine. Despite some possible delay due to the virus, plans are to go ahead like nothing is wrong in the world?
Apparently that is EXACTLY the plan. #smh
@Scott Hogg Looks like Gov Inslee has a different opinion. 😱
@Jill Keller our neighbor posted some of governor Inslee's specifics on "construction guidance"
