I am totally for people expressing their own views but this protest with no face masks or social distancing is totally irresponsible. Let's all remember these business owners when our city opens up.

That means unsolicited advertisement for goods, services and/or other web sites, or posts with little, or completely unrelated content. Do not spam the forums with links to your site or product, or try to self-promote your website, business or forums etc.
We can have a discussion, but let's be good neighbors. No blatent defamation, harassment, or abuse. Nothing deemed generally obscene, racist or otherwise overly discriminatory is permitted on the forums. Use common sense while posting.
Please refrain from posting the same question in several forums.
All posts should be neighborly and courteous. You have every right to disagree with your fellow community members and explain your perspective. But please do not blatently attack, degrade, insult, or otherwise belittle your neighbors.
5. No abusively "bumping" posts
A new post flows to the top of a feed, if you consistently post comments clearly intended to get your posts to the top of the page you will be contacted and can be banned if you refuse to stop.
Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain copyrighted materials is forbidden.
7. No logical fallacies please
A logical fallacy is a flaw in reasoning. Logical fallacies are like tricks or illusions of thought, and they're often very sneakily used by dishonest folks to fool people and make them feel crazy. Common examples are: Straw Man, bandwagon, appeal to authority and gaslighting. See examples here: yourlogicalfallacyis.com
8. Please use your real name for your account.
We are real life neighbors in a real life town. This is the internet, but it's not THAT internet. We ask that you use your real name here (first and last). We feel that real names help improve the discourse and keeps posters accountable. If you have trouble changing that, please contact us for guidance.

Were there actually alot of Camas business owners involved, or was it just a parade that happened to pass by Camas businesses? Obviously, the no mask, zero social distancing reality is disturbing.
@Scott Hogg I don't know about a lot, but the organizer Awna owns/operates the Pick Me Up deli by the lakes with her husband.
According to the deli's website, "They've begun the rebranding process" with Grow Digital Marketing. Sounds like a good chunk of money sunk into marketing aiming towards a summer launch. Like many businesses those plans are on hold unfortunately and you can imagine the difficult position someone is in if they sink a big chunk of marketing investment that should pay off immediately and then COVID enters the picture.
As bad as that might be, the solution isn't to put neighbors at risk so you can get a return on your investment. You pay taxes for moments like this among other things. Put pressure on your representatives and pursue the programs being advertised. Here's the SBA website:
https://www.sba.gov/page/coronavirus-covid-19-small-business-guidance-loan-resources
It's very odd that some seem afraid to approach the idea of taking back some of their taxes for relief in this unprecedented moment, but they will happily start a gofundme to ask for the money from everyone else. Taxes are actually paid by everyone else already, so go get your taxes to keep you afloat until life resumes.
I really don't see anyone in Camas who takes a position at council meetings, facebook comments, etc. that can't quickly be tied back to a personal financial interest towards that issue with a basic google search be it small business, construction or their own consulting gig - except of course for the good folks here on watch Camas just trying to keep home livable and affordable for them and their neighbors.
@Phil Williams Didn’t the City of Camas receive federal funds from the CARES Act (coronavirus relief)? What is the city doing it with it? Did they use it for their drunken sailor spending spree or did city leadership decide to help out the suffering downtown businesses like so many other small towns have done? Maybe @watchcamas wrote about this and I missed it,
@kdenoya I think they've reported over $700k approved and incoming from CARES?
Don't know if I saw any coverage on watch Camas, but as I heard it in a council meeting, it was initially represented as a big plus to help float us generally until I believe a caller pressed a bit harder and our financial director then gave a "thank you for reminding me" where she "remembered" that the entirety of the money had to be spent on specific efforts related to COVID or it would need to be returned to the government.
Unfortunately, if I know Camas in early 2020, I imagine the bulk of the legal effort at city hall right now is in figuring out an argument for how roundabouts fit into CARES.
I asked Awna Underwood that exact question and havent received an answer. She owns Muranos Italian Deli...little does she realize that she will probably be required by law to wear a mask once she reopens. She should try one on....see how it fits.

Agree with you @Jill Keller.
My stance is, if you're genuine about opening back up because you think we are passed the worst, you'll have no issue tying a reopening up to verifiable science/medicine based justifications (baseline measurement, regular ubiquitous testing, stretch of time with no new cases).
Otherwise, you're afraid of the result if we did things correctly. You're content looking the other way while others suffer and/or die. Plain and simple.
If your family/business needs money right now, the answer isn't risking your neighbor's life. You pay taxes, they are there partially for unique moments like this without ready solutions. Push your representatives in government, don't push Grandma.
I’ll support all downtown Camas businesses
